
An uncontained wildfire at Bastrop State Park has triggered evacuations in the area as authorities battle the blaze.
Cavan Images/Getty Images/Cavan Images RFAuthorities are scrambling to evacuate locals and corral a wildfire currently enveloping 300 acres of Bastrop State Park.
As reported by the Austin-Statesman's Andy Sevilla, evacuations are underway in response to a "very active fire" at 100 Park Road 1A. Initially reported as a 150-acre blaze, the fire has doubled in size since early reports, spreading across 300 acres and counting. As of this writing the fire stands at "zero percent" contained.
Sevilla reports that air support has been called in to drop water and fire retardant materials on the flames.
The Texas Wildfire Incident Response System confirmed the 300-acre scope of the Rolling Pines blaze at 4:19 p.m. CT and placed containment levels at zero percent.
FOX 7 Austin's Steven Sarabia tweeted images of smoke from the wildfire, which has enveloped both sides of Highway 21. The stretch of road has been closed off as authorities respond to the blaze.
Sarabia also captured video of a helicopter dumping water on the flames.
CBS Austin's Lindsey Ragas shared further images of the blaze.
